Painting as a form of worship during the Easter service has become a tradition for which I am grateful to participate. There are many Biblical expressions of worship and I love the account in Exodus where God instructs the children of Israel to create beautiful things for the tabernacle and for the priestly garments. I appreciate that God included the visual aspects of worship that causes us to direct our thoughts toward Him and all He has done for us. The resurrection is the good news that is the most worthy subject for painting and music and expressions of worship!

Easter is about the most joyous occasion on planet earth! Great joy heralded Jesus’ birth. But rising from the dead to conquer death forever and open the doors to hope, now that is cause for exhilarating celebration! When King Solomon was announced King over Israel the Bible records that:
“all the people followed Solomon into Jerusalem, playing flutes and shouting for joy. The celebration was so joyous and noisy that the earth shook with the sound.” I Kings 1:40
The joy at Easter is much greater than an earthly king. Easter celebrates the King of Kings and is worthy of all our creative expression in worship! He is risen! He is risen indeed!
